Damien Chazelle’s film “La La Land” left its mark in 2016 with six Oscar wins. “La La Land” was one of the biggest cinema related events of 2016 after Chazelle’s breakthrough with “Whiplash” in 2014.
Defined as a magnificent reflection of classic musicals, the film also received critical acclaim for its score by Hurwitz. It became an instant classic with the wonderful chemistry of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, along with its many memorable songs, most notably, “City of Stars” and “Audition.”
Hurwitz played a great role in the success of “La La Land,” which won Academy Awards for Best Original Score, Best Original Song and Best Production Design, as well as Golden Globes for Best Director, Best Actress and Best Cinematography. It also won Best Original Score at this year’s BAFTA Awards.
The 31-year-old composer also worked with Chazelle on “Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench” and “Whiplash,” turning their friendship that started during their studies at Harvard University into a successful partnership.
