Teachers strike against gov’t education policies

One woman was wounded from being hit on the head by a tear gas canister, while many of the teachers were negatively affected by the tear gas.
Several education unions decided to hold one day strikes in public schools across Turkey. The teachers had demanded an “end to political moves in the education system and the compulsory rotations of teachers and principals,” while they also demanded permanent solutions to the problems.
In the Bursa province, teachers danced the traditional “halay” during the strike.
In Kayseri, a group of protesters marched to the local Education Ministry building with local musical instruments as part of the strike.
