Security footage released earlier today shows a teacher fighting a militant to prevent him from entering a hallway with explosives during yesterday’s attack on a Diyarbakır school by suspected members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

The teacher, Şükrü Kikizade, is seen in the video struggling to keep the militant from setting off the handmade explosives after a number of assailants rushed into the building with masks.

"What are you doing? You'll kill the children!" the teacher, who is also the school's deputy principal, is heard yelling at the militant.

"Let me go," the militant said. "I will kill the both of us."

Other teachers also joined Kikizade soon after, and the militants were prevented from doing greater harm.

Two teachers and three students were wounded yesterday in a series of suspected PKK attacks that were launched on schools across southeastern Turkey.
