Teacher rapes teenager in Turkey: claim

A 14-year-old boy was allegedly raped by his teacher in the dormitory of a school in the southeastern province of Mardin. School managers are also being accused of covering up the assault. Victim A., whose family have been living in neighboring Şırnak, was transferred to Mardin in October 2012 and since then he had been sexually assaulted by his religious catechism teacher, H.K., the daily Hürriyet reported yesterday on the basis of an interview with victim A.

The boy reportedly confessed the continuing attacks to his mother in March this year. A hospital’s report supported the boy’s rape claims. The school’s manager offered A.’s mother to “solve the problem internally” however she refused and the case was taken to a local court where A. testified that there were other victims. The suspect was listed as a mechanic worker in the school’s records despite the fact that he was delivering the Qur’an reading classes.
