The National Security Council (MGK) met today to discuss the Syrian crisis, increasing violence in Iraq and the latest developments in the Middle East.

A declaration released following the bimonthly meeting in Ankara said the meeting reviewed the threats generated by the clashes in Syria and measures taken against them.

The council also discussed Turkey’s humanitarian efforts to aid Syrian refugees.

The statement said Turkey was concerned over increasing terror incidents in Iraq and emphasized that Ankara would continue its support for Baghdad in its efforts to establish lasting stability in the country.
