Five suspects accused of raping a 16-year-old girl with mental disabilities, as well as her 20-year-old brother, have been released by court pending trial in the northwestern province of Tekirdağ, Doğan news agency reported. The men, aged 34, 36 and 28, allegedly gang-raped the 16-year-old when they were confronted by the girl’s older brother. In response, the men allegedly raped him, too, threatening both if they insisted on going to the authorities.
The siblings’ family, however, learned about the incident and filed a complaint against the suspects. Evidence of rape was subsequently found on both victims.
The three initial suspects were taken in custody, as were two additional people, aged 15 and 25.
All were released by court pending trial.
