Sudanese authorities are claiming that a vulture captured in Khartoum was carrying Israeli spy gear, Israeli news website Ynet has reported yesterday.

An Israeli GPS chip was found tagged on a bird's leg in Sudan, with a band labeled "Israel Nature Service" and "Hebrew University, Jerusalem."

Sudan alleges the device can take photos and that the vulture was on a mission over Sudan in the name of Israeli intelligence.

Israeli authorities asserted that it was a "standard migration tracker" which has no photography capabilities.

Sudan also accused Israel of performing an airstrike at a weapons manufacturing compound in Khartoum in October.
