Student set to represent Turkey at Water Week

Günnur Tekşen will represent Turkey at the 2013 International Stockholm Junior Water Prize finale held at the World Water Week in Stockholm Sept. 1-6.

The Turkish student will compete for the prestigious international Stockholm Junior Water Prize against finalists from 28 countries at the finale during the 2013 World Water Week in Stockholm, the leading annual meeting place for the planet’s most urgent water-related issues.

Tekşen won the national competition in Turkey for his project “Common Structures, Common Solutions – from Water Scales to Water Towers”, in which she advises that the properties of water distribution towers are to be taught in the physics, history and architectural departments of universities, as it is considered a guiding element for the use of old technologies in the construction of new projects.

Her project will be on display at the World Water Week exhibition hall, where each finalist will be interviewed by a committee of international water experts who will select the competition winner. The 2013 Prize will be presented by Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden on Sept. 4 during a ceremony at Stockholm International Fairs.
