Student in Texas jailed for missing school

A juvenile court in Texas has sentenced a high school student to 24-hours in jail for missing school for over ten days without any reason, daily Hürriyet reported today.

17-year-old Diane Tran, one of the honor students of her school, said she was working at two different jobs to take care of her two sisters and that some days she could not go to school because she was so exhausted.

However, the court did not accept her excuses and punished her with the jail term.
