STFA eyes to build bridges, tunnels

STFA, which is building a port in Oman, will soon start a road construction.

STFA, a Turkish construction firm, is looking to increase its international presence in the construction and energy sectors by building more bridges and tunnels, a statement from the company said. 

In addition to their core specialties of port, pier and naval construction, they have plans to expand to bridge and tunnel construction as well as energy infrastructure, according to the company’s statement.
STFA’s Executive Board Chairman Mehmet Ali Neyzi said in the statement that STFA’s consolidated revenues had exceeded $1 billion. “Our investments in the construction and energy sector will keep growing.” 

In keeping with their goal, STFA signed a $256 million deal Nov. 11 with Japanese IHI to build a bridge over İzmit Bay in Turkey’s Marmara region. IHI will construct the legs and pillars of the bridge, according to daily Hürriyet. 

At the same time, STFA signed another $305 million deal with Oman’s Transportation Ministry Nov. 29 for the Oman Bidbid-Sur road project. 

STFA also aspires to enter the Iraqi market. “We are interested in Iraq not just for construction, but also trade and other projects. We will be active in Iraq in 1 to 2 years,” said STFA Chairman İlker Keremoğlu in a press conference.
