Spending night in room with another is grounds for divorce: Court

ISTANBUL
The Turkish Court of Appeals has made a controversial decision on "adultery" after examining objections regarding two cases in Ankara and Konya, daily Habertürk has reported.

According to the court's decision, a married woman or man who has spent a night in a room with another man or woman can be assumed to have committed adultery, which is considered adequate grounds for divorce.

Local courts in Konya and Ankara had previously rejected the claimants' demands for divorce due to lack of evidence.

The court's decision will be able to be referred to by other courts as example jurisprudence.
