Soldier killed in blast at outpost in Turkey's southeast

One soldier was killed and eight were injured after a hand grenade accidentally exploded at a military outpost in the eastern province of Hakkari yesterday.The explosion occurred at around 10 p.m. at the Yeşitaş outpost in the Dağlıca vicinity of Hakkari's Yüksekova district.
The identity of the soldier killed in the blast has not yet been released. The eight injured soldiers were taken by helicopter to the Van Yüzüncü Yıl University Hospital and the Van Regional Research and Training Hospital.
Meanwhile, unknown assailants lobbed two hand grenades at an armored police vehicle patrolling a road in the Beçelen highlands of Hakkari. The grenades did not explode, while security forces launched an operation to apprehend the suspects.
