Six PKK militants killed in Turkey’s east

Two PKK militants who were reportedly preparing for an attack were killed by security forces in Van.
Security forces raided a house which was used by PKK militants in Van’s Selimbey neighborhood in the early hours following a tipoff.
Militants and security forces reportedly exchanged fire after the PKK members refused a call for them to surrender, leading to the death of two militants.
Officials also stated that large amounts of ammunition were seized during the raid.
Another clash between PKK militants and security forces occurred in Tunceli. Four PKK militants who were traveling to Tunceli from Erzincan were killed as they were allegedly preparing for an attack.
An anti-terror operation was conducted in the area near Mount Munzur, which is located between Tunceli’s Ovacık district and Erzincan’s Kemah district. The clash between PKK militants and security forces continued until the early hours of June 25, resulting in the death of four PKK militants. Reinforcements were dispatched to the area in an effort to contain the militants.
Meanwhile, a group of PKK militants opened harassment fire on a gendarmerie post in Tunceli’s Sütlüce area on June 25.
Following a response by Turkish soldiers, militants escaped to a forested area. Casualties were reported amid an operation to apprehend the militants.
