Sezen Aksu sings for Meral Okay

Turkey’s famous diva Sezen Aksu sang in memory of screenwriter, author and actress Meral Okay at a benefit night hosted by Istanbul’s Türker İnanoğlu Maslak Center.

In addition to performing, Aksu helped to organize the evening, titled “Meral Okay is born again in the village of mathematics,” celebrating the life of the artist, who died in April.

In attendance was actress Demet Akbağ, who said Okay was a good friend of hers. “This is a night that became Okay. We have organized this night for Okay. We have lost her very early,” she said.

The famous actress of Muhteşem Yüzyıl (Magnificent Century), Meryem Uzerli, was also at the event, and said Okay had supported her a lot during her career and her energy and goodness still existed.

The money raised from the benefit has been donated to the mathematics village. According to Uzerli, this project concerns children and is a very important undertaking to support.

Beyazıt Öztürk and actor Engin Altan Düzyatan were presenters during the benefit, which was also attended by famous names from the Turkish art scene such as Ali Nesin, Aziz Akyavaş, Dilara Endican, Durul Taylan, Yağmur Taylan, Emine Uşaklıgil, Gül Oğuz, Halit Ergenç, Hande Ataizi, Melek Ulagay, Melisa Sözen, Meryem Uzerli, Murat Yıldırım, Mustafa Atalık, Nebil Özgentürk, Nur Fettahoğlu, Oktay Kaynarca, Ozan Güven, Pelin Akat, Reha Muhtar, Selma Ergeç and Timur Savcı. Each artist made a speech for Okay.
