Several injured in blast at Ankara industrial zone

ANKARA
At least nine people were injured after a blast at Ostim, a major industrial zone in Ankara, on Oct. 27.

One of those injured is said to be in critical condition, daily Hürriyet has reported.

The explosion is believed to have been caused by a build-up of gas inside a building owned by an ice production company located in one of the sections of the industrial zone, initial reports said.

Gas from the factory was seen spreading outside the building following the blast.

Ambulances and firefighters have been dispatched to the area.

20 people died in an explosion at a nearby workshop in Ostim in 2011 in one of the deadliest recent industrial accidents to occur in the Turkish capital.
