Security forces start operation after clash with PKK in Turkey’s Hakkari

Security forces have started an operation after a clash occurred between outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants and Turkish security forces in the southeastern province of Hakkari, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.  

The operation reportedly occurred after PKK militants attacked a military base in the Şemdinli district of Hakkari, with soldiers responding immediately to the fire. 

A broad-scale operation was opened by the security forces to catch the militants responsible for the attack.

Meanwhile, security forces seized explosive mechanisms and life-support materials, the Hakkari Governor’s Office announced on March 16, Doğan News Agency has reported. 

Three pieces of dynamite, 10 electrical fuses, and other materials such as different types of cables were also seized during an operation, the governorate stated.
