Science council to support hybrid, electric car R&D with 5 million Turkish Liras

The Scientific and Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) will grant up to 5 million Turkish Liras for each company that conducts research and development work on hybrid and electric-engine cars, Industry Minister Nihat Ergün has said.“We are taking a step that will mark the start of important period. TÜBİTAK will provide financial support of up to 5 million liras for the private sector in hybrid and electric-engine vehicle technologies, as part of the Research and Development Support Program for Priority Areas. Products that gain recognition and have potential competitive power in the international market will be developed. Fields of industrial application will be developed for products that bring technological innovations to the hybrid and electric-engine vehicles sector and high-value-added products will thus be brought in to our country,” Ergün said.
The TÜBİTAK has so far issued four calls in this field, he added. “Project applications for these calls started on June 1, and will be accepted until August 31. TÜBİTAK will provide support to [approved] projects for up to 36 months.”
