‘Salt Bae’ feeds David Beckham steak in his New York restaurant
NEW YORK
Ex-footballer David Beckham visited the recently opened grill house of “Salt Bae” Nusret Gökçe in New York on Feb. 12 with his children Romeo, Cruz and Harper.
Beckham, 42, shared a video from the restaurant on Instagram showing Gökçe – who became a social media phenomenon in early 2017 for his meat-cutting and salt-drizzling skills - slicing his steak, sprinkling it with salt and feeding it to Beckham from his knife.
“Thank you for a great lunch… pleasure to meet you and hell of an experience @nusr_et,” Beckham captioned the clip, adding: “See you in Miami.”
The New York branch of Gökçe’s international chain of “Nusr-et” restaurants has received mixed reviews since opening, with many complaining of exorbitant prices and mediocre cocktails.
The restaurant was also subjected to an official Health Department inspection after reports that Gökçe was not wearing gloves while performing his famous “salting.” He has since donned a pair of svelte black gloves for all public appearances.
