Sónar Istanbul to host unique performances at Zorlu PSM

Sónar Istanbul, which will take place at Zorlu PSM on March 8 and 9 for the third time, will host experience and atmosphere-oriented unique performances. 

Created in 1994, Sónar is the International Festival of Advanced Music and Congress of Technology and Creativity celebrated during three days every June in Barcelona. 

Bringing music, creativity and technology together, Sónar Istanbul which will welcome Modeselektor (Live), Kobosil, Ben Frost (360°Live), DJ Seinfeld, FJAAK (Live), Tijana T, Deena Abdelwahed (Live) and DJ Lag in addition to Bicep (DJ Set), Laurent Garnier, Henrik Schwarz, Matador, The Field, DJ Stingray, Octo Octa, Volvox, Gazelle Twin, HAAi and George Fitzgerald (Live). 

Sónar Istanbul will also host the exceptional shows of new media artists, thanks to the venue’s technical and architectural facilities. The shows will take place at SonarScreen, which has a 30-meter-long LED screen, and SonarHall stage. 

“Nomad,” the latest project of the St. Petersburg-based artist collective TUNDRA, which draws attention with multimedia performances and audio-visual shows that focus on human feelings; Caterina Barbieri’s modular show that shines out with its usage of machine intelligence and audio perception; “Blossom,” the improvised audio performance of Tolga Böyük; “Ashes,” the latest project of Yro and Martin Messier who use electro mechanics for performances; “Impromptu Rockforms,” the collaboration of multimedia artist Ali Demirel and Kaan Bulak; C/A’s “Claire” show that uses deep learning and artificial intelligence technologies, “NOS,” a show by NOS Visuals, which produces visual shows with their own special software and musician Gökalp Kanatsız; “Wave: a metanarrative,” a performance by new media artist Ali Bozkurt and Tolga Böyük; while new media artist Ahmet Said Kaplan and audio designer Alican Okan’s show “Delight” will offer exceptional experiences for the Sónar Istanbul visitors. Modeselektor, one of the guests of honor in the first edition of event, sets its route to Istanbul again. The duo, consisting of Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary, took stage at Sónar Barcelona, which celebrated its 25th birthday this year. 

Now, they are getting ready to meet the Istanbul audience, with a dance-focused live set pushing the limits of imagination. The duo announced their new album “Who Else” with a brand-new song called “Wealth” last month. The new album, which will be released by Monkeytown Records, will be out on Feb. 22. 

Some of the other names on the exciting line-up include Serbian DJ and producer Tijana T, Ben Frost, German techno trio FJAAK, Swedish producer and DJ Seinfeld, the avant-garde electronic project from Tunisia Deena Abdelwahed, Swedish ambient-techno producer The Field, Brooklyn underground scene’s leading name Volvox, British producer and musician Gazelle Twin, Henrik Schwarz and Lauren Garnier, who is shown as the maestro of the French electronic music scene.
