As part of the recently initiated peace process, 45 deputies from the Justice and Development Party (AKP) are to visit three southeastern provinces, Diyarbakır, Batman and Siirt, in order to inform locals on the process and listen to their opinions.

The group, which also includes AKP Group Deputy Chairman Ahmet Aydın, is set to arrive in Diyarbakır on April 5 to listen to the public, as well as the representatives of some non-governmental organizations in
the city. They will then head to Batman and Siirt.

AKP Diyarbakır deputy Galip Ensarioğlu said the group was mostly composed of deputies from western
provinces, adding that their direct communication with southeastern locals would be crucial regarding the views toward the process. Ensarioğlu said there had been a dialogue gap between eastern and
western cities so far, and that the deputies’ sharing their eastern impressions with the west would be an important step toward a dialogue.

“The deputies will establish a dialogue with the locals, while listening to their views and demands in the region. These visits will be crucial in terms of the resolution process,” Ensarioğlu said.
