The state of Romania has presented Dr. Akkan Suver (L) with an honorary degree for his contribution to peace-building among neighboring countries.

The state of Romania has presented Dr. Akkan Suver with an honorary degree for his contribution to peace-building among neighboring countries.

Dr. Suver received the title of “Doctor Honoris Causa” from the Constanta Maritime University for “his outstanding contribution to mutual understanding and dialogue between cultures, religions, civil societies and governments, and for encouraging social, economic, and political cooperation among neighboring countries to achieve sustainable, peaceful, stable conditions.”

Suver, a Turkish journalist and a former member of the Nationalist Movement Part (MHP), is the president of a non-governmental organization, the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation.

The honorary degree, which bears the signatures of the President of Senate Prof. Nicolae Buzbuchi and Rector Prof. Violeta Vale Ciucur, was given to Suver in a ceremony.

The Consul General of Turkey in Constanta, Füsun Aramaz, also attended the ceremony where Suver made a speech stressing the importance of dialogue for peace.

Dr. Suver also holds honorary degrees from the Azerbaijan Tefekkür University (2001) and the Kyrgyzstan Bishkek University (2010).
