Retired man ‘adopts orphaned lambs’ in central Turkey’s Kırıkkale
KIRIKKALE
A 53-year-old retired man living in the central Kırıkkale province took 10 lambs under his protection when their mothers were unable to feed them, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on March 5.
A bleak future awaited the lambs at first, when the mother could not produce enough milk for them. But then Yakup Karayel, a former kindergarten worker, took them in.
“I call them by my children’s names,” Karayel said.
“Still, I call them ‘orphans’ too,” he added.
Because he has retired from a kindergarten, he can understand what it means to be around orphans, Karayel said.
Karayel has even said he wakes up in the middle of the night to turn on the heater and check on the lambs.
“This is an orphaned lambs sanctuary,” he added.
