Remove Brad Pitt movie from Turkish cinemas: Minister

Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Ertuğrul Günay has criticized Hollywood star Brad Pitt’s latest movie “Killing Them Softly” due to its “disgraceful dialogue,” asking authorities to either slap a +18 rating on the movie or remove it from cinemas, daily Hürriyet reported today.

“I can’t say it out loud, but you do well at the box office when [you] line up swearwords one after another. I cannot support this as the state. My job is [about] art movies. I cannot support violence, ethnic discrimination and hate speech,” the minister said.

“I saw Brad Pitt’s ‘Killing Them Softly’ movie. Don’t see it. I thought of leaving the cinema, [it was] disgusting. I have never heard such shameful dialogue in any place,” Günay said. “The movie is for people aged 13 and older. Make it for adults aged 18 and older; better yet, remove it if you can. Wouldn’t a person watching this with a spouse become uncomfortable?”
