Suspected Al-Qaeda militants killed at least 56 policemen and soldiers in three simultaneous attacks in southern Yemen on Friday, military sources and local civilian officials said.

Two of the three attacks in Shabwa province, an Al-Qaeda stronghold, involved vehicle bombs, the sources said.

The deadliest exploded at an army camp killing 38 soldiers responsible for security at oil fields in the region, the sources added.
