Prosecutors have demanded Aug. 6 42 aggravated life sentences for each of the four main suspects of the Feb. 11 Cilvegözü border gate attack which killed 18.

Three Syrians and a Turkish citizen suspected of providing the sim cards used for the explosion were charged with "murder by bombing, attempted killing and disrupting the unity and territorial integrity of the state."

Two other Syrian suspects, including the wife of a main suspect who had confessed to her involvement in the attack during the police interrogation, were charged with "complicity in murder" and face up to 10 years of prison.

The indictment also accused a brigadier general in the Syrian Army identified as Adnan Hawwash of giving the instructions for organizing the attack.

No one had officially claimed responsibility for the attack, but a Syrian opposition faction accused the Syrian government of the bombing, saying it narrowly missed leaders of the group.
