A police officer was killed on Sept. 28 when a gun under his pillow allegedly fired accidentally in the Köyceğiz district of the Aegean province of Muğla, Doğan News Agency has reported.
Fatih Keskin, 42, who had been working as a police officer for 21 years, was allegedly killed when the gun under his pillow accidently fired and shot him in the head.

According to initial investigations, Keskin touched the gun’s trigger by mistake while he was sleeping.
Keskin was about to move from the province, as his son had been accepted into a science high school in the Black Sea province of Sinop.

His appointment to Sinop was accepted upon his request to move. Kesin was alone at home at the time of the incident, as his family had already moved to the province.

Moving company workers who arrived at Keskin’s house to pack his belongings informed police after Keskin did not hear their calls. A locksmith was later called to open the door and Keskin was found lying on a couch in the living room, as his furniture had already been prepared to be moved.

Keskin’s body was later taken to Muğla Forensic Institution morgue following the initial examinations.
In addition, police also opened a detailed investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, Köyceğiz district police chief Burhan Şahin also called Keskin’s family to inform them of his death, expressing his condolences.

One day before his death, Keskin had attended a farewell dinner organized by his colleagues.
