PM Yıldırım calls for support of Turkey to fight terrorism

Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has said support to Turkey in its fight against terrorist organizations would contribute to the global fight against terror.

The premier said "support to Turkey will contribute to all counterterrorism efforts,”naming the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and the Fethullahist Terror Organization (FETÖ) as the main terrorist groups that Turkey has to fight simultaneously.

Speaking on Dec. 10 at a joint news conference with his Danish counterpart Lars Lokke Rasmussen in Ankara, Yıldırım said: "Turkey and Denmark hold the same opinion that there is more need today than yesterday for an international cooperation in the fight against terrorism.”

He also praised the "ongoing positive cooperation against terrorism" and said it was a nice step that the independent courts of Denmark suspended the PKK-linked Roj TV's broadcasting license back in February 2014.

Denmark's Court of Appeal found ROJ TV and its parent company guilty of terrorism and ruled to have broadcasts cease.

The two leaders also discussed migrant crisis, Syria, Turkey's EU bid and relations with Russia.

"We are united in our fight against ISIL," the Danish PM added.

Rasmussen said he would visit Danish soldiers, who are deployed at the İncirlik air base in the southern province of Adana to help fight ISIL.
