Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu held a meeting with Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu after the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) staged what appeared to be their deadliest attack since the collapse of a two-year-old de facto ceasefire in July, which killed 16 government soldiers.

The meeting on the evening of Sept. 7 was hastily held upon Kılıçdaroğlu’s request earlier in the day. The CHP leader voiced his concerns over the Sept. 6 attack in the Dağlıca area of southeastern Hakkari province and rising violence in the country, while Davutoğlu informed him of recent details, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported, citing anonymous sources.

During the 45-minute meeting, Kılıçdaroğlu also expressed his uneasiness over a lack of information being presented to the public concerning the Dağlıca attack.

The prime minister also briefed the opposition leader concerning the military operations which have been launched at PKK targets.
