PKK vows to resume clashes in Turkey

“The unilateral halt to hostilities has come to an end with the AKP [Justice and Development Party]’s war policy and the latest attacks,” Fırat News Agency (ANF) quoted a statement of the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK), the PKK’s umbrella organization, as saying. 

“After the election, the AKP has demonstrated it is going to be a war government,” said the KCK statement.

The PKK had declared a ceasefire on Oct. 10 ahead of the Nov. 1 parliamentary election. However, clashes between security forces and PKK militants continued before and after the Nov. 1 general elections. The statement also said that the “a non-conflict environment can only be ensured if the Turkish state manifests a will for the resolution of the Kurdish question and initiates negotiations for the achievement of this goal.”
