PKK releases engineers after five days

Two engineers kidnapped by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) were released in the afternoon hours on June 27, five days after they had been taken from a stone quarry in the southeastern province of Bitlis.The engineers were dropped off around Çağlayan district and made it to the town’s center on their own, according to reports.
They testified at the local gendarmerie station and were then sent home.
The Bitlis Governorship had previously stated that the kidnapping occurred around 8:30 p.m. on June 21 when two militants showed up at the site, near Örenlik village, and forced two engineers, identified as A.A. and E.İ., into a vehicle and then drove away.
