Pilot killed in military plane crash in western Turkey - agencies

The F-16 fighter jet crashed near the Mustafakemalpasa district in the western province of Bursa after taking off from a military air base in neighboring province Balikesir late on Tuesday.

First Lieutenant Fatih Korcam did not survive the crash, authorities said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Balikesir is a hub for Turkish jets, which often engage with Greek warplanes in the disputed air space above the Aegean Sea.
