Sakıp Sabancı Museum’s concert hall, the Seed, is hosting Russian-German pianist Igor Levit tonight as part of its Istanbul Recitals program. Levit has worked with orchestras like the NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Düsseldorf and Lucerne Symphony Orchestras and the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover. He has toured several times with the English Chamber Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe with Vladimir Jurowski. Highlights of his next season include debuts with the London Philharmonic Orchestra under Vladimir Jurowski and the National Philharmonic of Russia with Vladimir Spivakov at the Kissinger Sommer 2011 in Germany.

Levit took four prizes at the 2005 International Arthur Rubinstein Piano Master Competition even though he was the youngest artist in the competition. The 23-year-old won second prize at the 2004 International Maria Callas Grand Prix in Athens and first prize at the International Hamamatsu Piano Academy Competition in Japan. His chamber music partners include musicians such as Lisa Batiashvili, Gautier and Renaud Capuçon, Mischa Maisky and Maximilian Hornung.
