Pegasus posts strong Q2 profit
ISTANBUL
Turkish low cost airline Pegasus said its second-quarter consolidated net profit rose 50 percent to 53.3 million Turkish Liras ($27 million).Both rising passenger numbers and occupancy rate have driven the Pegasus’ second-quarter sales to 605.3 million liras, which is 16 percent higher than last year’s same period, the carrier said in a stock exchange filing late on Aug. 19.
A statement released by Pegasus after the announcement of the figures said the domestic and international flight passenger numbers has heightened 22.6 percent in the first six months of the year, reaching 7.55 million with the addition of June air traffic data. The company launched 15 new routes – domestic and international – in the first six months of the year, while raising its occupancy rate to 79.3 percent from 77 thanks to soaring demand.
