Thieves stole gold necklaces and diamonds worth around 200,000 dollars (160,000 euros) from Guns N'Roses frontman Axl Rose as the singer gave a private concert in Paris, a police source said today.

The theft late Tuesday enraged the 50-year-old singer from the US supergroup and police were called in to calm the situation, the source said.

Rose held his private gig, attended by around 100 people, after a public performance at Bercy stadium.

The singer is the only remaining member of the original line-up of the rock band that was formed in Los Angeles in 1985 and whose best known songs include "November Rain", "Patience", and "Sweet Child o' Mine".
