Open letter to judges

Three men dragged a woman with a car for 230 meters; she died when she went under the rear wheels. The sentences of 36 years each were reduced to 30 years because of their “good conduct” in the courtroom.

The guy was given a one year and eight months’ jail sentence for sexually assaulting a Japanese tourist in his vehicle. He was tried without being arrested. Because of his respectful attitude in the hearing, this “very light” sentence was postponed.

The sentence of the guy who killed his girlfriend and later cut the body to pieces and dumped it in a container was reduced to 25 years because of “good conduct.”

The molesting police chief enjoyed the “good conduct” reduction and was punished with the least possible sentence, which was converted to a 2,500 Turkish Liras-fine in installments.

A school administrator, after sexually abusing four little girls, was given the lightest sentence for two of the girls. For the other two girls, because their physical and psychological health was not damaged, simple sexual abuse charges were demanded. He enjoyed the “good conduct” reduction and his sentence was cut by one-sixth.

A guy’s 25-year sentence for sexually abusing two children of 4 and 6 years of age was reduced to five years because “the children’s psychological health was not damaged” and he was released.

The life sentence given to the man who murdered his wife was reduced to 18 years because the wife had a lover. He also received the “good conduct” reduction.

The sentence of the man who killed his wife by stabbing her 16 times was reduced to 20 years because the wife was cheating on him.

For the teacher who sexually harassed six of his 10-year-old students, a reduced sentence was given on the grounds that he was not mentally stable; he received 18 years and nine months.

A defendant caught red-handed while he was raping a 3-year-old child received two years four months of reduction in his sentence because of “good conduct.”

A child was subjected to her uncle’s sexual abuse for five years since she was 5-and-half-years-old. This crime was regarded as simple sexual abuse because her hymen was intact. The uncle’s sentence went down to three years.

A defendant received 12-and-half-years for sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl. Later, the verdict was revoked on the grounds that the complaints of the victim were “cured after treatment.”

The man who killed his ex-lover and cut off her hands first received a life sentence; then it was reduced to 25 years because of “good conduct.”

The man who killed his wife and her lover by pushing them off of their balcony – because the lipstick stain on the lover’s neck was considered aggravated provocation – was first given a life sentence, then received 25 years.

The man who killed his wife on the street by slitting her throat got a 15 year sentence, due to the “provocation reduction.” The taxi driver who helped him in the murder was acquitted.

There are tens and hundreds of similar verdicts. There are those who get reductions for “good conduct” because they wore a tie, because they called the judge “sir,” or because they buttoned their jackets.

There are those who claim their wives were cheating on them so that they could receive a “provocation reduction.”

There are judges who consider the color of the dress the woman was wearing, her make-up, miniskirt, tights, her way of sitting and the two beers she drank, all as provocations.

When you are facing the masculine justice system, no matter how savage your crime is, you can say “My manhood was insulted.” On top of that, if you say, “I regret what I have done, your honor,” then you have further reductions…

Dear judges,

Your contributions to the tragic position of the women in this country can even be seen from space. The men you protect, the mentality you maintain jams women like flies.

You, “justice,” kill a person every day.

Dear judges, we are sick and tired of being ashamed on behalf of you…
