No gas cuts, says minister
ANKARA - Hürriyet Daily News
There were currently no planned natural gas or electricity cuts on the way, according to Energy Minister Taner Yıldız, speaking at a press conference yesterday.“We do not have any electricity cuts on the agenda. However, there is a correlation between natural gas usage and electricity consumption […] There may be momentary issues, but hopefully these will not affect the average citizen and industrialist,” he said.
Nevertheless, 2012 could see a 25 percent increase in natural gas consumption from 2011, according to Yılmaz. Electricity usage has also hit a record, with the daily electricity consumption currently standing at 178 million cubic meters.
