ANKARA – Hürriyet Daily News
The Children’s Rights Summit and Development Association has asked for full protection of children’s rights and measures to eradicate child labor in proposals for the new constitution submitted to Parliament’s charter commission. The association told the Constitution Conciliation Commission a prerequisite of a developing society is to ensure children are at a healthy, educated and able position.
The new constitution must see children as individual citizens, said the association, while protecting their basic rights and freedoms.
Child labor was also emphasized in the proposal, with the association saying the new charter must not include any references upholding child labor and must specifically protect them against such employment.
