New series of Beren Saat to be aired in Turkish channel

Turkish TV star Beren Saat’s new series, ‘Intikam,’ is a Turkish interpretation of the U.S. ABC TV series Revenge.
Turkish TV star Beren Saat’s new series, “Intikam,” a Turkish interpretation of the U.S. ABC TV series Revenge, will air on Kanal D this season. Saat, who costars with Mert Fırat and Nejat İşler, will play one of the leading roles as the daughter of a man who was framed for a crime he did not commit and sent to prison for life. The daughter was permanently separated from him and never saw him again. Now she has returned to her hometown, intent on getting revenge against those who wronged her and her father.Saat took private lessons to learn the martial arts required for the fight scenes in the series. She has previously acted in “Fatmagül’ün Suçu Ne?” (What is Fatmagül’s Fault?).
The 22-part series, directed by Mesude Eraslan and written by Berkun Oya, was shot in the Kandilli district of Istanbul. The series trailer aired last week accompanied by a Turkish social media campaign.
“Intikam” is coproduced by Disney and local network Kanal D. The agreement by Disney Media Distribution (DMD), the international distribution arm of The Walt Disney Company, is the distributor’s fourth such localized drama project in Turkey. It follows Desperate Housewives and the recently announced Private Practice, as well as Grey’s Anatomy, all of which have Turkish versions.
In the U.S., “Revenge” became one of the highest-rated new dramas among women age 18-49 in the 2011/2012 season, second to ABC’s other hit drama, “Once Upon A Time.” The second season has now launched and the series has already been licensed to over 200 territories worldwide.
