New ferry line carrying vehicles to be operational soon in Istanbul

ISTANBUL
New vehicle-carrying ferries crossing from one side of the Bosphorus to the other are due to start serving soon in Istanbul, as the construction of ports has been completed and two of the ferries docked on the İstinye port.

The date of the first crossing on the İstinye-Çubuklu line is expected to be announced in the following days.
Three ferries will operate on the line once every 20 minutes, while the duration of the crossing is expected to last no longer than eight minutes.

Around a million vehicles are expected to be carried in one year on the line. The project launched by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality is aimed at easing chronic traffic in the business hub of the Maslak area in Istanbul and easing bridge traffic congestion.
