Riots broke out in the Jordanian city of Mabada on Monday after two teenagers confessed to killing a taxi driver in a murder inspired by the Turkish TV drama "Kurtlar Vadisi" (The Valley of the Wolves), the Jordan Times reported on its website.

Calm was restored to the city yesterday after a large number of police and armored vehicles were deployed to the city.

The two suspects, aged 17 and 18, confessed to luring 37-year-old taxi driver Sami Mayayah to a deserted area where they shot him to death.

The suspects reportedly said they were inspired by “The Valley of the Wolves” and its vigilante protagonist, Polat Alemdar, a secret agent who infiltrates the Turkish mafia, never shying away from resorting to violence for "the greater good." The series depicts explicit scenes of violence, assassination and torture.

The suspects allegedly asked Mayayah to inform them about men who harass women in an effort to establish a vigilante group of their own but shot the taxi driver when he refused to cooperate.
