More Turks visit cultural heritage sites

The number of people who visited museums in the last five years increased.

The number of people visiting museums, ruins, cinemas and theaters in Turkey has increased in the past five years. According to Turkey’s statistical authority TurkStat, the number of people who visited museums and ruins in Turkey in the last five years increased to 28 percent, reaching a figure higher than 25 million.
The number of people going to cinemas increased 99 percent in the past five years in Turkey and reached 35.7 million. In the 2009 to 2010 season, the number of people who attended theatrical performances increased 142 percent when compared to the 2005 to 2006 season and reached a figure of 5.2 million.
