More than 224,000 Syrian babies born in Turkey in last six years

More than 224,000 Syrian babies have been born in Turkey in the last six years, since the outbreak of war in their country, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu announced on Nov. 16.
Speaking to the parliament’s planning and budget committee, Çavuşoğlu said there were 976,000 school-age children.
Some 620,000 of these children began their education in Turkey, he added.
According to data from the ministry, as of Nov. 15, there are 3,303,113 Syrian refugees in Turkey, 228,223 of them in refugee camps, who have fled the war-torn country since conflict erupted in 2011.
Some 17,000 Syrians are in universities in Turkey and the number of Syrian academics in Turkey has reached 400.
