Turkey’s Health Ministry has exposed 15 more bottled
water firms' names that are “risking people’s health” in addition to five
companies whose names were revealed last week, daily Hürriyet reported today.
Some 1,100 samples belonging to 254 water companies offering service nationwide were tested as a part of probe, the ministry said. Some 114 of the firms were deemed to be non-compliant, while 15 firms’ filling facilities were declared to be in violation of health regulations.
Gençsu, Karlık Madran, Alka Madran, İvriz Su, Beysu, EDK
Lara, Hünkar, Revan, Buzdağ, Kardelen, İdeal, Hazar Vox Nida, Bahçeayran,
Esensu Özayran and Kabalak were all named as the water brands producing plastic
carboys “harmful to human health.”
Only the firms’ plastic carboy products were declared to be in violation of health regulations, not the companies’ other products, the statement said.
The firms’ operations have been temporarily halted, and
the ministry has taken criminal action against the firms.
The 15 firms, however, will able to resume production of the plastic carboys if they remedy the problems, according to reports.
