Ministers focus on regional problems

The summit meeting of heads of state and government of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) began with a session of the Council of Foreign Ministers yesterday.

Thanking the participants of the BSEC summit during his inauguration speech, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu said the session would provide an opportunity to discuss global and regional issues.
Congratulating Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic for having been elected the President of the U.N. General Assembly, Davutoğlu thanked Jeremic for his efforts as the term president of the BSEC.

“We are proud that someone from our region and organization will chair this important international body,” Davutoğlu said.

Jeremic, for his part, said he was pleased to be in Istanbul. “We will discuss very important topics in our meetings … We will also hand over the term presidency of the BSEC to Turkey, and I am sure that Turkey will be successful as the term president,” he said.

Serbia has experienced a very dynamic chairmanship period, Jeremic added, while thanking all members for their support.
