Minister invites large industries to Turkey

Industry Minister Nihat Ergün heads to Japan today for a four-day visit during which he will invite the chief executives of Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, and Nec to invest in Turkey and benefit from the country’s new incentive scheme.

Ergün will make a presentation to the executives on three important topics: Turkey’s new incentive scheme, the FATİH project to equip Turkish students throughout the country with tablet PCs and classrooms with smartboards, and Turkey’s domestic auto production efforts. He is also expected to outline specifically how the country’s new incentive scheme will facilitate Japanese businessmen who want to invest in Turkey.

Ergün is expected to seek investment under the three main headings of his presentation, especially asking Japanese electronics firms to take part in the FATİH project, and Japanese auto giants like Toyota to increase their production in Turkey, according to the Anatolia news agency. He is also expected to urge Nissan, which does not currently have any production facilities in Turkey, to invest in Turkey, and to ask Japanese auto producers to contribute to Turkey’s efforts to produce its own locally-made automobile.
