Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) head Devlet Bahçeli said the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) should not look to it for the perpetrators of the twin bombings at the HDP offices in Turkey’s southern provinces of Adana and Mersin.

“The MHP, from a principled perspective, wants elections to pass in peace. But some people, who want to overshadow the elections, want to aggravate things through provocations. The HDP is not our addressees. The HDP should look for the perpetrators outside of the MHP,” Bahçeli said May 18 on a televised interview with private broadcaster NTV.

Bombs hit two local headquarters of the Kurdish problem-focused HDP in Adana and Mersin on May 18, weeks before the June 7 general election. Hidden in a cargo parcel and a gift-packaged flower pot, the two bombs injured at least three people.

Bahçeli also claimed that there is a “secret coalition” inside Turkey that consists of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, the imprisoned leader of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) Abdullah Öcalan, and the HDP.
