Metal workers give ultimatum for strike
KARABUK - Anatolia News Agency
Turkey’s metal trade union, Çelik-İş, has said if they cannot advance in talks for collective labor agreement with iron and steel factories Kardemir, they would take strike action next week.“Next week is the deadline in the contact,” Çelik-İş Union Head Ali Cengiz Gül said,”if we decide to strike, there will be no backtracking.”
Speaking at the press meeting organized in the Black Sea province of Karabük where the Kardemir factory is located, Gül said the union has been fighting to level up the Kardemir steel workers’ payments.
The union has been conducting a transparent and determined collective labor agreement process which has red lines but no agreement has been reached yet, he said.
The negotiations were including all workers and they would all be subject to collective rights, added Gül.
