Men found after reported missing while hiking in western Turkey

Four people who were reported missing after going on a hike in a forested area in the western province of Manisa have been found after a comprehensive search effort.Rescue efforts were launched by the Search and Rescue Association (AKUT) and the Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), two major bodies dealing with rescue and search operations, after relatives of Bekir Güngör, 64, Mehmet Ali Güngör, 52, Bekir Akay, 52, and Sinan Birge, 50, informed gendarmerie forces they had heard no news of the four on Aug. 25.
The four went on hiking near the Güneş neighborhood of Manisa’s Turgutlu district around 10 a.m. on Aug. 25.
About 50 employees from AFAD and AKUT joined the search effort to locate the missing hikers, along with members of the local gendarmerie command and local villagers.
