Man files criminal complaint against wife over ‘insulting President Erdoğan’

A man living in the Torbalı district of the Aegean province of İzmir has filed a criminal complaint against his wife for “insulting” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, daily Yeni Şafak has reported.

The man, identified only as Ali D., recorded the voice of his wife as she swore at Erdoğan when he appeared on TV, using the recording as evidence in the complaint.

Ali D. reportedly warned his wife that he would file a criminal complaint if she continued to insult the president, and after he made the recording for submission to a lawyer, she reportedly filed a divorce lawsuit against him. 

“I would file a criminal complaint even if I had a father insulting and swearing at the president,” Ali D. was quoted as saying in Yeni Şafak.
