Makrokosmos quartet at Borusan
ISTANBUL - Hürriyet Daily News
Named after four volumes of compositions by George Crumb, the Makrokosmos quartet, consisting of pianists Ufuk and Bahar Dördüncü and percussionists Francois Volpe and Sebastien Cordier, will perform at Borusan music house tonight. The ensemble played “Music for a Summer Evening,” the third of Crumb’s compositions, in its first performance. This type of quartet combining percussive pianos with melodic percussion was extremely rare during the 20th century, and shares a commonality with composers such as Heinz Holliger, Brian Ferneyhough or Stefano Gervasoni.
